National Philanthropy Day

Phi Mu is the only Greek organization to have a National Philanthropy Day!

On October 15th every year, Phi Mu collegiate and alumnae chapters across the country participate in philanthropic works to benefit the community.

In 2017, the Alpha Kappa chapter at CofC decided to collect items for a local homeless shelter, Crisis Ministries.

The failing economy had left a great need for household items and food for a Charleston shelter that so many people depended on.

We were able to collect hundreds of dollars as well as items to give to Crisis Ministries that year, including canned goods, bed sheets, blinds, blankets, shampoo/soap, and so much more!

Last year, Alpha Kappa sisters got together and hand-made dozens of cards to be passed around MUSC's Children's Hospital.

Our sisters wanted to make sure that these children knew they were not alone in their fight against cancer and other diseases.

This year our sisters painted pumpkins to decorate the halls of MUSC's Children's Hospital for the Fall season.

Other National Philanthropy Day celebrations have included trash pickups, beach sweeps, serving a meal at a homeless shelter, and more!
